Under the umbrella of our German-Spanish partnership of lawyers, we are delighted to offer you a comprehensive range of services tailored to your legal needs.
This naturally extends to inheritance-related cases, house liquidation proceedings, administrative procedures, as well as the commissioning of real estate agents should you be interested in selling your property. Prior to that, we will be prepared to conduct valuations or resolve disputes with the tax authorities on your behalf. Should you require the Spanish N.I.E., we will also be pleased to assist you with obtaining it.
Applying for a Spanish N.I.E. Number
N.I.E. is an abbreviation for Número de Identidad de Extranjero, which means identification number for foreigners (or foreigner identification number).
The N.I.E. will serve as your multifunctional identification and tax number in Spain.
This strictly personal non-transferable number, which is valid indefinitely, will be registered in the Spanish Central Register of Foreigners by the General Directorate of Police and the Civil Guard. Non-Spanish nationals can also use the N.I.E. as their tax identification number (Número de Identificación Fiscal – N.I.F). Please note that you will always be asked to refer to this number for purposes of communication with the Spanish authorities.
Your Spanish N.I.E. may be used, for instance, for
- purchasing real estate
- applying for residence permits
- establishing a company
- opening a bank account
- conclusion of rental agreements
- inheritance settlement
- entering into other contracts

- € 350.00 incl. VAT for EU citizens, or
- € 480.00 incl. VAT for non-EU citizens
The official application fees are entirely covered by the above flat rate. You will receive your N.I.E. within approx. 30 days upon the arrival of your documents in our office.
These are our Services:
- Compilation and review of all the necessary documentation
- Preparation of the powers of attorney for purposes of representing you during the application process
- Preparation of the finalised application form
- If you do not have a fiscal postal address in Spain, we will provide you with our office address for the duration of the application process free of charge
- For non-EU residents, issuance of a bank account opening certificate or notarised confirmation will be included!
- Formal application on your behalf
- Payment of the official N.I.E. fees
- Registration and activation of the N.I.E. with the tax authorities (Modelo 30)
- Collection of your N.I.E. from the respective municipal office and delivery to your address by email as well as by post
