Dr. Jacinto Soler-Padró

Dr. Jacinto Soler Padró studied law at the University of Barcelona and has been working as a lawyer for more than forty years, being a member of several Spanish bar associations. In addition to his legal training, he also studied economics. He is a doctor of economics and a registered auditor.

In its issue of 23/5/2005, the well-known US magazine Time recognised the work of Soler Padró in the field of corporate governance. ‘Der Spiegel’ has also published its opinion on Spanish topics in the past.

His law firm was practically the first law firm in northern Spain to be involved in German-Spanish matters, in close cooperation with the German Chamber of Commerce. Dr Soler was also a member of the board of directors of numerous well-known subsidiaries of German corporations.

In the 1980s, he was the Austrian Honorary Consul General of Catalonia and Aragon, based in Barcelona.

In the nineties, as a member of the board of the Deutsche Schutzvereinigung für Wertpapierbesitz in Düsseldorf, he experienced the new turn in corporate and stock exchange law under the chairmanship of Graf Lambsdorff.

The firm’s sports department actually conducted the first court case in the history of FC Barcelona. The firm had represented Bernd Schuster in his dispute with the club. The resonance of this dispute was reported in the German tabloid Bild.

In addition to his professional commitments, Dr Soler was a well-known city councillor in Barcelona a few years ago, a member of the city council’s executive committee and, among other things, the chair of the Catalan statistics consortium.

He has published several hundred articles in the legal and economic sections of the leading Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.

Over the years, he has also given lectures in Germany, particularly at the German Chambers of Commerce.
